As far as I’ve learned about recorded history, there has always been world hunger and homelessness. There’s always someone who’s in great need and someone else with more than enough. I’ve asked the same question that many of us ask, “If there is a God Why Doesn’t He Do Something? Why did God give some people so much and others so little? God isn’t fair!”
Q: Did God give some people wealth so they could flaunt it and look down there noses at those who are poor?
One day, I received the answer.
2 Corinthians 9:11 You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
1 Timothy 6:17 Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy.
Proverbs 22:9 A generous person will be blessed, for he gives some of his food to the poor.
Proverbs 11:24 One person is generous and yet grows more wealthy, but another withholds more than he should and comes to poverty. 11:25 A generous person will be enriched, and the one who provides water for others will himself be satisfied. 11:26 People will curse the one who withholds grain, but they will praise the one who sells it.
Hebrews 13:16 And do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for God is pleased with such sacrifices.
A: God gave wealth to some people so they would generously give to those who don’t have what they need. So it’s not God being unfair, it’s those of us who have but don’t give! Many of us still haven’t learned this.
