Luke 11:3,Give us each day our daily bread.”

I continue to ask God for my daily bread and He continues to give me what I need each day!  A few weeks ago, I got home late and my blood sugar was falling fast.  I was shaky and light-headed and needed to eat immediately but didn’t have anything ready to eat on hand.  A neighbor said she had a pizza that she didn’t like and I could have it so I did.  God gave me food exactly when I needed it!

I’ve needed work and God gave me some temp jobs just when I needed them.

This past week, some people gave me a bunch of old things that they didn’t want to keep or have time to sell in a garage sale.  It was home goods that I can use and tons of quality items that I can sell.  None of it was junk.

What ever amount of money I make from selling these things and the temp jobs I’m giving God the first ten percent despite the money problems I’m currently having!

Daily Bread Update 6

Luke 11:3,Give us each day our daily bread.”

I continue to ask God for my daily bread and He continues to give me what I need each day!  Because money is not yet coming in I took out money from retirement funds.  Before I paid any bills, I made a sacrifice by giving God his first 10% (tithe).  That first ten percent belongs to Him not me.  By early afternoon, I received many good things; some items I can sell to make money, a lasagna and more cookies!

Thank you Jesus for doing what you say you’ll do!

Genesis 14:20 And blessed be The High God, who handed your enemies over to you. Abram gave him a tenth of all the recovered plunder (MSG).

Exodus 3:9 Honor GOD with everything you own; give him the first and the best (MSG).

Exodus 34:22 “You must celebrate the Festival of Harvester with the first crop of the wheat harvest, and celebrate the Festival of the Final Harvest at the end of the harvest season (NLT).

Leviticus 3:8 “Begin by being honest. Do honest people rob God? But you rob me day after day. “You ask, ‘How have we robbed you?’ “The tithe and the offering–that’s how (MSG)!

Leviticus 23:10 “Give the following instructions to the people of Israel. When you enter the land I am giving you and you harvest its first crops, bring the priest a bundle of grain from the first cutting of your grain harvest (NLT).

Leviticus 27:30 “A tenth of the land’s produce, whether grain from the ground or fruit from the trees, is GOD’s. It is holy to GOD (MSG).

Daily Bread Update 5

Luke 11:3,Give us each day our daily bread.”

It’s been too long since my last daily bread update.  Honestly, things have gotten tougher financially since I’ve only had 2 sales in 4 weeks!  Those 2 sales would be great if it brought in a few thousand but they were very tiny potatoes.

I’m still asking God in prayer to give me my daily bread and He continues to do so.  One person gave me a few meals but I don’t keep count.  Mostly, I’m eating the last of the food in the pantry, which is dry goods.  Perhaps God is saying it’s time to get rid of old things taking up space.

The Lord also gave me a wireless computer keyboard valued around $20.  This is a nice necessity since my old keyboard with a wire got sticky keys.

Thank you, Jesus for providing!

Daily Bread Update #4

Luke 11:3,Give us each day our daily bread.”

Financially, things are getting tougher since I’ve made little money in business.  However, God is feeding me.  I bought a few food items and paid cash this week.  I could have bought lots more and charged all of it but I didn’t want to nor did I feel good about such an idea.  Besides, I’m late on my credit card payment.

Every day and night, I ask God to give me my daily bread and He continues to do so.  A good neighbor who likes to cook gave me several meals this week along with cookies.  I’m thankful for those little things that make life sweet.  Little sweets give me a touch of enjoyment in a basic staples world.  The Lord gives me more than bread.

Answered Prayers

For the first part of my life, I did not believe that God answered prayers. Funny thing is, I never bothered to pray and ask for anything!

James 4:2 You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask.

Then when I asked God for things I didn’t get what I wanted.

James 4:3 And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.

Then I asked God for necessities only like food, money for bills, a vehicle that didn’t drop dead on the highway. Immediately, after asking I thought, “You’re not going to get it.” so I didn’t.

James 1:6 Ask boldly, believingly, without a second thought. People who “worry their prayers” are like wind-whipped waves (MSG).

I constantly worried about everything all the time.

James 1:7 Don’t think you’re going to get anything from the Master that way (MSG)

God did not give me what I asked for even though, I needed them.

James 1:8 Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do (BBE).

I look back now and can see how insecure I was with all aspects of my life. It did not change until I nearly became homeless and terrified to the point of major anxiety. Then I asked God to help me (no things attached) and He gave me what I needed.

James 1:17 Every desirable and beneficial gift comes out of heaven. The gifts are rivers of light cascading down from the Father of Light. There is nothing deceitful in God, nothing two-faced, nothing fickle (MSG).

He answered my prayer. I did not end up living in a cardboard box!

As my attitude gradually improved, I gradually received more answers to many more prayers. Here are a few:

2008  I bought a house at a good price and in a safe neighborhood with good neighbors.

I can now meet people without the anxiety that I used to feel.

On a job interview, I asked for more money than I’ve made before and got it!

I earned more than enough money at the end of December to pay the mortgage, all the bills and buy gifts.

2009   God gave me a temp job right when I needed it most. It was easy and local.

2010  God healed skin problems that the doctors said would, “Never go away” and I should “Learn to live with it”!

God gave me confidence and high self-esteem.

2011  God gave me all the money that I needed to pay my March bills when I          wasn’t making much money.

God gave me many free things that I could sell and keep all the profits.

God gave me sales on Ebay and Amazon.

God gave me a tax refund about a week before I really needed it to pay     bills.

God gave me help from neighbors to cut down overgrown shrubs.

God gave me the money and the right people to remove a tree that was about to fall and damage the neighbor’s property.

God gave me free furniture in good condition with free delivery.  I did not   have much furniture.

2012   God gave me my daily bread literally.

God gave me money to pay bills through internet and garage sales.

Luke 11:3,Give us each day our daily bread.”

At this time, I’m living day-to-day due to money problems.  It’s not what I had in mind but there are far worse situations in which to be.  Every day and night I ask the Lord to give me my daily bread and he keeps answering my prayer.  Last week, people gave me several canned foods and two meals.

Thank you Jesus!

Daily Bread Update #2

Luke 11:3,Give us each day our daily bread.”

This week has been amazing!  Each day, I’m asking the Lord to give me my daily bread and he has done so literally.  A friend brought me some bread this week.  I was expecting one loaf, instead it was an overdose of artesian breads from a bakery!

Currently, I’m having serious financial problems including growing credit card debt.  However, I’m trusting Jesus to help me each day.  God answered my prayer.

Daily Bread Update

Luke 11:3,Give us each day our daily bread.”

A credit card, the biggest beneficiary of the ...

I’ve been asking God each day to give me my daily bread.  Guess what!  He’s answered my prayers each day.  Seriously, I’m at a very bad place financially now and I have only me to blame.  I screwed up so much to get in this bad place now I’m trusting God to help me get out and leaving all the details to him.

Each day, God has given me what I need and it has not included a credit card. It does include some money, friends giving me food without my asking them.  Not only that but I’m not starving.  I used to think this scripture meant that God would give us just barely enough to live but now I know that is wrong.  He is giving me plenty of what I need and it hasn’t been junk either.

Right now, I don’t really know how I’m going to pay my bills.  I’m working on selling stuff that I have and writing but mostly I’m asking God to help me.  To top it off, I feel calm about my situation.  Once in a while I’ll feel a moment of anxiety and then it’s gone.  I’ll keep you informed of the outcome whether good or bad.

Daily Bread

Q: What is Jesus talking about when He says in Luke 11:3,Give us each day our daily bread”?

A: King Solomon, the wisest and richest man who ever lived, gave us the answer long before we asked the question.

Proverbs 30:8-9 Remove falsehood and lies far from me; do not give me poverty or riches, feed me with my allotted portion of bread, 9 lest I become satisfied and act deceptively and say, “Who is the Lord?” Or lest I become poor and steal and demean the name of my God.

When we get more than enough food we become satisfied and act deceptively. When we don’t have enough food for a day we become poor (in every meaning of the word) and we are likely to steal.

Psalms 49:6 “They trust in their wealth and boast in their great riches.”

Q: Why does Jesus expect such a thing from us?

A:  Both scenarios, too much food vs not enough food, have consequences. Those are deception and theft in addition to harming our relationship with God. When we live simply day-to-day and trust God we get focused on how much we need him. We learn to trust God and depend on him. The best part is, we gain a better relationship with Jesus.

I’m learning these things the hard and easy ways. When I thought only of money and worried about it I was less than honest in my work.  Mainly, doing what bosses wanted me to do knowing that they wanted me to do the wrong thing just to make money. When I finally said, “No, that’s not right.” the bosses found someone else who would do anything for money. That actually made me feel better because I hated every day despite all the money I made.

Next, I ran out of money and got desperate. I didn’t steal anything but I did turn to the evil credit card, which has gotten me deeper in debt. Now, that I’m at the end of my money rope, I’m asking God each day for what I need. Not barely enough to survive but exactly what and how much that He knows I need each day to live. I’m learning to trust God and God has been supplying all my needs!

Philippians 4:19 “And my God will supply your every need according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.”
